Woodridge Lake is a 60 acre lake located in West Hartford. Fishermen will find a variety of fish including perch and rainbow trout here. Whether you’re baitcasting, spinning or fly fishing your chances of getting a bite here are good. So grab your favorite fly fishing rod and reel, and head out to Woodridge Lake. From late April to Thanksgiving, the lake is graced by rowboats, canoes, kayaks, swimmers and small sailboats. The Woodridge Association was created in 1937 and still includes residents who live on the lake and those who don't, but still have access to a beach area. Only association members are permitted to use the lake or the beach. Membership in the association is by invitation only. The association dues of about $300 annually covers the costs of hiring a Massachusetts-based water engineering firm that manages and maintains water quality of the lake. Occasionally, residents are assessed additional amounts when there are special renovation costs. Recently, waterfront houses have sold for at least $350,000 and one sold for more than $1 million. There are 130 association members, who attend social gatherings, such as a summer picnic, a winter holiday party and sailboat races, as well as swimming lessons.
